 Kruja

National Museum ¨George Kastriot Scanderbeg¨

The national museum ¨GEORGE KASTRIOT SCANDERBEG¨ is built in the fortress of Kruja capital of the Arbri state and center of the resistance against ottoman Turkish armies in the 14th- 15th century. In this museum are displayed many objects, original documents and authentic reproductions that depict the history in the 15th century and beyond.
There are seven pavilions:

  • Antiquity and early middle age pavilion.
  • Albanian Princedom Pavilion
  • Pavilion of Ottoman Invasion and resistance to this invasion
  • Medieval fortresses pavilion
  • Albanian resistance
  • Scanderbeg’s office equipment and library
  • The heritage and echo pavilion

In these pavilions are displayed objects of ceramic, bronze, iron, copper, several facsimiles, original icons, writings, a bell of 1462, original swords of the 15th century, etc.

Visiting Hours: 9:00 – 13:00 and 15:00 – 18:00
In May, June, July, August and September the visiting hours are: 08:00-13:00 and 16:00-19:00.

The National Ethnographic Museum

The National Ethnographic Museum is placed in a building of 1764 classified as first class culture monument. It is a 15-16 room building and objects exhibited here give a complete view of the crafts applied in Kruje and all over Albania and the way of living in the last 300 years. 90% of the items are original and 100% are functional. The age of the objects varies from 60-70 to 500 years.

Visiting Hours: 9:00 – 13:00 and 17:00 – 18:00
In May, June, July, August and September the visiting hours: 09:00-13:00 and 16:00-19:00
